Psoriasis, eczema, vitiligo and chronic urticaria are not skin problems — they are blood problems, gut problems, and immune problems that express themselves on the skin. Ayurveda has treated them at their true origin for thousands of years.
In Ayurveda, all chronic skin conditions fall under the category of Kushtha — diseases of the skin rooted in the vitiation of Rakta dhatu (blood), Pitta dosha and the liver's capacity to filter metabolic toxins. The skin erupts because the deeper channels are overloaded. Treating the surface while the blood remains toxic produces temporary clearance at best.
Psoriasis (Kitibha Kushtha) is characterised by excess Vata and Kapha — dryness, scaling and rapid skin cell turnover combined with inflammatory Pitta. Eczema (Vicharchika) is a Kapha-Pitta condition with weeping, itching and red inflammation. Vitiligo (Shvitra) involves loss of melanocytes linked to Rakta and Medas dhatu imbalance with significant emotional and autoimmune components.
Our programme combines Raktamokshana (blood purification), Virechana, specific blood-cleansing herbs and a complete dietary overhaul. The results are often dramatic — particularly for psoriasis and eczema that have failed every conventional treatment including biologics.

Classical blood-purifying herbs: Khadira (Acacia catechu) and Manjistha (Rubia cordifolia) — specifically indicated for chronic skin disorders and among the most extensively used herbs in Kushtha treatment.
Purgation to systematically eliminate Pitta-Ama from the liver and small intestine — addressing the metabolic root of inflammatory skin conditions from the inside out.
Medicated buttermilk poured over the head and body — profoundly cooling for Pitta-Kushtha and proven effective for psoriasis, eczema and urticaria in classical and modern clinical applications.
Vitiation of the blood tissue — the fundamental Ayurvedic understanding of all chronic skin conditions. Blood carrying excess metabolic toxins delivers them to the skin for elimination.
Inflammatory Pitta driving the erythema, burning and oozing of eczema, psoriatic plaque and contact dermatitis. Diet, alcohol, anger and sun exposure all aggravate Pitta skin conditions.
The liver's role as the primary blood purifier is central in Ayurveda. Chronic skin conditions often reflect compromised liver function — and respond dramatically to liver-supporting Virechana.
Intestinal permeability (leaky gut in modern terms) allows undigested proteins into the bloodstream, triggering the immune responses that manifest as psoriasis, eczema and urticaria.
Vitiligo and psoriasis both have significant autoimmune dimensions. Ayurveda addresses these through Rasayana (immune modulation) rather than immune suppression.
Unexpressed grief, anger and fear are stored in the skin in Ayurvedic physiology. The stress-skin connection is one of the most clinically reliable patterns our physicians observe.
Blood purification through Jalaukavacharana (therapeutic leech application) or Siravyadha — directly extracting vitiated Rakta from the affected area. Remarkable for localised psoriatic plaques and chronic eczema.
Therapeutic purgation cleansing the liver and small intestine of Pitta-Ama — the single most important systemic intervention for inflammatory skin conditions. Standard first phase of all chronic Kushtha programmes.
Daily medicated buttermilk poured over the entire body or specific affected areas — cooling, anti-inflammatory, microbiome-restoring. Particularly effective for extensive psoriasis and full-body eczema.
Khadira, Manjistha, Neem (Nimba), Guduchi, Turmeric and Haridra formulations — individually compounded based on the specific skin condition, skin type and constitution.
Topical medicated herbal pastes applied to affected skin areas — Nalpamaradi taila, Eladi taila or custom compounded formulations. Applied for 20–30 minutes daily alongside internal treatments.
Complete elimination of all identified Pitta-aggravating and skin-reactive foods — alcohol, fermented foods, spicy food, incompatible combinations — and introduction of a blood-purifying diet based on your specific condition and skin type.
